The last 2 months of the summer were very busy for us, as we had to go through and complete several things we had at our roadmap… Create the StagTools plugin, create an optimized and more robust version of our Stag Framework, and create a new theme: Doctype.
We felt we should go really simple with doctype. Focus on design and usability, with as-clean-as-possible code and a redefined user experience. We took all the experience we have gathered the last 7 months and focused on the things that users love our themes for. One thing you will notice about doctype at first sight is that it looks so minimal as almost there is not design applied to it.
Well, the truth is that behind the scenes we went through countless revisions in order to remove things and elements rather than trying to add more functionality. The result is a clean and straightforward theme that remains flexible while remaining as close as possible to the WordPress core functionality. Using the widgetized homepage, one can create an awesome page that is easily customized and re-arranged, and not be limited to the structure of the demo.
Now the shortcodes stay with your content
Another thing with doctype is that it uses our StagTools free plugin, that adds a shortcode generator (with a number of handy shortcodes), custom widgets (there is a dribbble widget too) and custom post types. No matter if you choose to change theme in the future, your shortcodes will stay with your content.
Optimized Stag Framework
We re-built the framework from line 1, making it more solid, lightweight and fast than ever. You will notice that from the first moment you’ll start using the theme options panel. We are always to user feedback on how to further improve it, so if you have any suggestions, feel free to shoot us an email.
To sum up, we are really proud of Doctype, and we consider it to be our most solid solution for creative professionals that want to showcase their work in the front row. We would really love to hear your thoughts on this, so have a look at the demo, and let us know what you think of Doctype.
