In order to add a custom logo and a Favicon to your theme, you will need to install and activate the Jetpack plugin.
After you do so, you can add your logo under Appearance > Customizer > Site Title, tagline and logo

In order to add a favicon, you just need to activate the Jetpack’s “Site Icon” module and follow the instructions that are provided there.
