The homepage we use at the Higgs demo is a widgetized page. Please make sure that you follow the instructions on how to create a widgetized page.
After you have created your widgetized page, go the the “Reading settings” and define this page as the homepage. Go to Settings > Reading and from the first set of radio buttons, check the “A Static page” and from the front page dropdown select the page you have created (in our example “home”). Click Save and you are good to go.
Defining the Homepage via the Customizer
You can also define what your homepage will be by going to Appearance > Customize > Static Front Page, where you will find the same settings there.
